The following are a few tips that we hope will keep you healthy and happy while traveling in Egypt:
- While eating out it would be best to avoid salads made with raw vegetables and to ask for meat well done rather than medium or rare.
- Most restaurants will offer bottled water at a minimal charge; if it is not on the table, ask for it.
- Exercise caution while eating from food stands on the street. Make sure the food is cooked and if raw, as in fruit and vegetables, wash it carefully with bottled water before consuming.
- Wash your hands with soap and water frequently, especially after handling money or riding in public transportation.
- In spite of all these precautions, should your digestive system rebel to the change in diet, pharmacists are familiar with the problem and will provide you with sure-fire remedies at very little cost. Some pharmacies are open 24 hours a day, have English speaking staff, and will even deliver to your home or hotel.
